# Competitor Comparison Pages

Build pages that rank for competitive search terms, provide genuine value to evaluators, and position your product effectively.

## Core Principles

1. **Honesty builds trust**: Acknowledge competitor strengths, be accurate about limitations, don't misrepresent competitor features.
2. **Depth over surface**: Go beyond checklists; explain why differences matter; include use cases and scenarios.
3. **Help them decide**: Be clear about who each option is best for; reduce evaluation friction.
4. **Modular architecture**: Centralize competitor data; updates propagate to all pages.

## Page Formats

### Format 1: [Competitor] Alternative
**Intent**: User actively looking to switch from competitor.
**Keywords**: "[Competitor] alternative", "alternative to [Competitor]", "switch from [Competitor]".
**Structure**: Why look for alternatives; summary of your positioning; detailed comparison; who should switch; migration path; social proof; CTA.

### Format 2: [Competitor] Alternatives (Plural)
**Intent**: User researching options, earlier in journey.
**Keywords**: "[Competitor] alternatives", "best [Competitor] alternatives", "tools like [Competitor]".
**Structure**: Why look for alternatives; what to look for (criteria framework); list 4-7 real alternatives; comparison table; breakdown by alternative; recommendation by use case; CTA.

### Format 3: You vs [Competitor]
**Intent**: Direct comparison between you and specific competitor.
**Keywords**: "[You] vs [Competitor]", "[Competitor] vs [You]".
**Structure**: TL;DR summary; at-a-glance table; detailed comparison by category (Features, Pricing, Support, Ease of use, Integrations); who you're best for; who competitor is best for; customer testimonials; migration support; CTA.

### Format 4: [Competitor A] vs [Competitor B]
**Intent**: User comparing two competitors (not you directly).
**Keywords**: "[A] vs [B]", "[B] vs [A]".
**Structure**: Overview of both; comparison by category; who each is best for; introduce yourself as third option; comparison table; CTA.

## Research Process

**Deep competitor research**: Sign up, use product, document features and UX; gather pricing (all tiers) and hidden costs; mine reviews (G2, Capterra, TrustRadius) for praise and complaints; talk to customers who switched; analyze their positioning and changelog.

**Ongoing updates**: Quarterly verify pricing and check for major features; update when customers report changes; annual refresh of all competitor data.

## Essential Sections

- **TL;DR Summary**: Quick summary for scannersβ€”key differences in 2-3 sentences.
- **Paragraph Comparisons**: Explain differences and when each matters; go beyond tables.
- **Feature Comparison**: Describe how each handles categories; list strengths and limitations; bottom line recommendation.
- **Pricing Comparison**: Tier-by-tier breakdown; what's included; hidden costs; total cost for sample team size.
- **Who It's For**: Explicit about ideal customer for each option; honest recommendations build trust.
- **Migration Section**: What transfers; what needs reconfiguration; support offered; quotes from switchers.

## SEO Considerations

**Keyword targeting**: Alternative (singular) for [Competitor] alternative; Alternatives (plural) for [Competitor] alternatives; You vs for [You] vs [Competitor]; A vs B for [A] vs [B].

**Internal linking**: Link between related competitor pages; link from feature pages to relevant comparisons; create hub page.

**Schema markup**: Consider FAQ schema for "What is best alternative to [Competitor]?"
