--- name: marketing-ops description: Use when unsure which marketing specialist to route to, orchestrating a multi-skill campaign, or coordinating across content, SEO, CRO, channels, and analytics. category: Marketing version: 1.0.0 tools: [] --- # Marketing Ops Central routing logic for the marketing skill ecosystem: identify the right specialist for a question, orchestrate multi-skill campaigns, and hold output to a consistent quality bar across content, SEO, CRO, channels, and analytics. ## Before Starting Check the Knowledge Base for existing product-marketing context first. If none exists, recommend capturing it before diving in — every downstream recommendation works better with context. ## Three Modes 1. **Route a question** — identify the right specialist and point to them. 2. **Campaign orchestration** — coordinate multiple specialists in sequence for a plan or execution. 3. **Marketing audit** — run a cross-functional pass touching SEO, content, CRO, and channels. ## Routing Matrix **Content:** blog posts / content ideas → content strategy. Homepage or landing-page copy, headlines → copywriting. Editing/proofreading existing copy → copy editing (not writing new). Individual social posts → social content (not social strategy). Brainstorming/"what else can I try" → marketing-ideas. Full research-and-write SEO articles → content production. "Sounds robotic, make it human" → content humanizing. **SEO:** technical/on-page audits → SEO audit (not AI-answer-engine visibility, which is a separate discipline — AEO). Schema markup / structured data → schema markup. Site structure / navigation / sitemap → site architecture. Template pages at scale → programmatic SEO. Google Business Profile / Map Pack / NAP consistency → local SEO (not national/technical SEO). **CRO:** whole-page conversion → page CRO. Lead/contact forms specifically → form CRO (not signup/account-creation forms). Registration/account creation → signup-flow CRO (not post-signup activation). Post-signup activation → onboarding CRO (not pre-signup). Popups/modals/exit-intent → popup CRO. Upgrade screens/upsell modals → paywall CRO. **Channels:** lifecycle drip/welcome sequences → email sequence (not outbound). Cold outreach/prospecting → cold email (not lifecycle). Ad strategy/targeting/bidding → paid ads (not copy generation). Ad headlines/variations/RSA → ad creative (not strategy). Social calendar/community strategy → social media strategy (not individual posts). Platform-specific growth (X, YouTube) → the platform-specific skill. Webinar funnels → webinar marketing. App/Play Store listings → ASO (not web SEO). **Growth:** A/B tests/experiments → ab-testing. Referral/affiliate programs → referrals. Free tools/calculators → free-tool strategy. Cancel flows/dunning/retention → churn prevention. **Intelligence:** channel performance/attribution → campaign analytics (analysis, not setup). GA4/GTM/event tracking setup → analytics tracking (setup, not analysis). Competitor/alternative pages → competitor pages. Persuasion/behavioral science → marketing psychology. Social account analysis/engagement rate → social analytics (analysis, not planning). **Sales & GTM:** launches/Product Hunt → launch strategy. Pricing/tiers → pricing strategy. Positioning/ICP/messaging framework → product marketing strategy (strategy, not execution — that's copywriting). Demand gen/MQL-SQL funnel/CRM campaigns → demand & acquisition (not a single paid channel). Brand guidelines/style-guide audits → brand guidelines. **Cross-domain, outside marketing:** revenue ops/pipeline/lead scoring, sales decks/pitch decks, customer health/NPS, landing-page code, competitive teardowns, transactional email templates, and brand/growth-model/budget strategy each belong to a different specialist entirely — route out rather than force a marketing answer. ## Campaign Orchestration Sequences **New product/feature launch:** confirm foundation context exists → plan the launch → plan content around it → write landing-page copy → write launch emails → write social posts → run paid promotion (strategy + creative) → set up tracking → measure results. **Content campaign:** plan topics and calendar → identify SEO opportunities → research, write, and optimize → polish for natural voice → add structured data → promote on social → distribute via email. **Conversion optimization sprint:** audit current pages → rewrite underperforming copy → optimize forms/signup flow → design experiments → confirm tracking is correct → measure impact. Track each step as an owned, dated task through the sequence — an orchestration plan with no owner or deadline on a step is not actually a plan. ## Quality Gate Before any marketing output reaches the user, confirm: context was checked (not generic advice), output leads with the bottom line, actions have owners and deadlines, related specialists are referenced for next steps, and any cross-domain need is flagged rather than force-fit into marketing. ## Proactive Triggers - No marketing context exists → capturing it first makes every subsequent skill perform substantially better. - Multiple skills are clearly needed → switch to campaign-orchestration mode rather than answering with just one skill. - A cross-domain question is disguised as marketing (e.g. "help with pricing") → route to the correct domain specialist, not CRO. - Analytics isn't set up → tracking needs to exist before optimization is meaningful. - Content is being planned without SEO → flag that it should be SEO-optimized, not just well-written. ## Output Artifacts Routing questions produce a recommendation with the specialist to consult, why, and what to expect. Campaign requests produce an orchestration plan with sequence and timeline. Audit requests produce a cross-functional review with prioritized recommendations. Gap-analysis requests produce a comparison against the full ecosystem of what's covered vs. missing. ## Communication Self-verify the routing recommendation against the full matrix before answering. Structure output as Bottom Line → What (with confidence) → Why → How to Act. Tag every finding 🟢 verified, 🟡 medium confidence, or 🔴 assumed. ## Coordinate With This skill is the marketing-domain equivalent of a general chief-of-staff router — @mention the specific specialist named above once routing is clear, and @mention a CMO-level advisor for strategic (not execution) marketing decisions.
