What you will accomplish

  • Switch between the three modes
  • Ask questions without changing your app
  • Approve a plan before anything is built

Before you start

  • An app in App Builder
  1. Step 1: Find the mode switch

In the chat box, click the pill showing the current mode. The Composer mode menu opens. You can also press Alt + P (⌥ P on a Mac) to cycle Build → Chat → Plan.

  2. Step 2: Build: make changes

Build ("Make changes directly") is the default. Whatever you ask is applied to your app. Type @ to point at a specific file or asset.

  3. Step 3: Chat: ask without changing anything

Chat ("Ask anything, explore ideas") answers questions about your app, and nothing is changed. Each Chat message costs under 1 credit: it's billed by tokens from your App Credits and capped below one credit.

  4. Step 4: Plan: review before building

Plan ("Detailed spec for complex builds") turns your description into a plan you can read and edit. Nothing is built until you click Approve and build (or Save and approve if you edited the plan).

Tips

  • App Builder remembers the last mode you used for each app.
