What you will accomplish

  • Switch the model for a chat
  • Turn on web search for current information
  • Let Syntic think longer on harder tasks

Before you start

  • A Syntic account
  1. Step 1: Open the model menu

In the message box, click the model name (its button is labelled Select model). The menu lists each model with its context size and a one-line description of what it's good at.

  2. Step 2: Pick a model

Click a model to use it for this chat. Models with a lock icon aren't included in your plan; clicking one tells you which plan includes it.

  3. Step 3: Turn on web search when you need fresh facts

Under the model list, switch on Web search for questions about recent events, prices or anything that changes. In some workspaces an admin controls this switch.

  4. Step 4: Use adaptive thinking for harder tasks

Switch on Adaptive thinking ("Thinks for more complex tasks") for planning, analysis or tricky problems. The model name then shows Adaptive. Leave it off for quick questions; answers come back faster.

Tips

  • Start with the default model. Switch only when an answer is too shallow, or when you need something your plan's other models do better.
