Forge

Build the AI Employee the Directory doesn't have.

Forge is Syntic's visual builder for custom AI Employees. Design the role from scratch, set the personality, wire the tools, define the authority, and ship to production. No code. No prompt engineering. No integration sprint. If you can write a job description, you can build the Employee. Most teams go from blank canvas to working Employee in an afternoon.

When to use Forge

The Directory covers 1,000+ roles. Forge covers the rest — and anything you want to own completely.

A Veterinary Intake Specialist. A B2B Renewal Owner. A Mortgage Pre-Qualifier calibrated to your exact underwriting matrix. An NDA Triage Clerk that follows your house playbook. An Overnight Ops Manager that reads your specific dashboards and files the brief before your team logs on. An Insurance Claims Processor tuned to your payer mix.

If the Directory doesn't have the exact role — with your exact authority thresholds, your exact compliance posture, your exact voice and channels — Forge is where you build it.

Start from a blank Employee, fork an existing Directory role and customise it, or remix one of the 1,000+ pre-built professionals to fit your specific workflow. Designs are free. You only pay when the Employee goes into production.

The canvas

You're designing a person, not writing a prompt.

Most AI builders start with a model and ask you to prompt it into shape. Forge starts with the role. Name the Employee, write their job description, set their reporting line, define their authority, choose their tools. The Employee is the first-class object on the canvas — a persistent, named staff member with a seat in your org chart. Everything else hangs off that.

New Employee
Name:Theo
Role:AI Mortgage Pre-Qualifier
Reports to:Renee (Head of Originations)
Voice:warm, patient, asks clarifying questions before quoting
Authority:can pre-qualify up to $750k, must escalate jumbo
Channels:phone, SMS, email
Knowledge:rate sheet (live), underwriting playbook v3, FAQs (88 entries)
Wire the dispatch logic
+Add agent: OutboundCall
+Add agent: CreditPullSoft
+Add agent: SendDocChecklist
Connect:OutboundCall -> if intent = qualified -> SendDocChecklist
Connect:OutboundCall -> if intent = unqualified -> SendNurtureSequence
Connect:anywhere -> if escalation_flag -> notify Renee on Slack
Promote to Cowork -> Theo is now live, assigned to Originations, reachable by phone and SMS

Agents are nodes. Decisions are edges. The canvas reads left to right, fans out where work parallelises, and merges where outcomes converge. What you see on the canvas is exactly what runs in production — no translation layer, no hidden configuration.

What the canvas contains

Everything you'd configure for a new hire, on one surface.

Personality, knowledge, authority, and channels. Set them once on the canvas and they ship with the Employee.

Personality and voice

Set tone, pacing, formality, fillers, and length of reply. Audition the voice on the canvas. Tune until it sounds like someone you'd actually hire. 16 languages, hundreds of voices, custom voice cloning available.

Knowledge and onboarding

Point your new Employee at the docs, transcripts, websites, and pages they should study. They self-onboard. You watch the index build live.

Dispatch rules and authority

Decide what they can do without asking. Decide what triggers an Approval. Decide which humans get pinged when. The same authority chart you'd write for a new hire.

Channels and integrations

Phone, SMS, WhatsApp, Slack, email, Telegram. Drop the channel onto the canvas, configure routing, and the Employee is reachable there.

Evaluation and test suite

Before anything goes live, run conversations directly on the canvas. Test edge cases, tune personality, stress-test authority thresholds. Forge validates the dispatch graph as you build and blocks promotion if required fields are missing or evaluation scores fall below your threshold.

Workflow

From idea to production in an afternoon.

Open the canvas, drag the agents in, test before you ship, then hire them into Cowork.

Step 1

Open the canvas

Start from a blank Employee or fork an existing role from the Directory. Forge runs in the browser and in Syntic Code Desktop. Designs sync to Cowork and preview on your phone.

Step 2

Drag the agents in

Outbound calling, web research, document generation, scheduled jobs, CRM writes, payment capture. Connect outputs to inputs. Set conditions. Forge validates the graph as you build.

Step 3

Test before you ship

Run live conversations against your Employee directly on the canvas. Audition the voice in all 16 languages. Stress-test edge cases. Tune the personality, the dispatch logic, the authority thresholds. Forge validates the graph as you build — broken connections surface in real time, not after deployment. Nothing goes live until you promote it. Your evaluation suite gates the promotion.

Step 4

Hire them into Cowork

One click promotes the design to a working Employee in Cowork. They show up in your org chart with their name, title, reporting line, personality, knowledge, and full agent toolkit already configured. Phone number assigned. Channels live. Credentials scoped. They're working before your next standup.

The Skills library

You don't build everything from scratch. You compose from a library of 400+ pre-built Skills, one-click connectors, and specialist sub-agents — then wire them to the role you're designing.

Skills

Pre-trained behaviors: objection handling, soft credit pulls, FDCPA-compliant collections language, MLS lookup, SOAP-note generation, brand voice, and executive summary writing. Browse 400+ Skills in the marketplace.

Connectors

One-click integrations to Salesforce, HubSpot, Stripe, Slack, Dentrix, Follow Up Boss, kvCORE, Athena, eClinicalWorks, QuickBooks, Xero, NetSuite, Zendesk, Intercom, and 50+ more.

Sub-agents

Specialized Syntic AI Agents that own one task end to end: outbound dialer, inbound triage, scrape-and-summarize, daily report dispatcher, calendar coordinator, document generator.

Featured Skills

Brand voice

Trains your Employee on your style guide, past content, and customer transcripts so every reply lands in your voice.

Compliant collections language

FDCPA-aligned phrasing for payment negotiations, dispute handling, and validation requests. Reviewed by counsel.

Soft-pull credit decisioning

Pre-qualification logic that pulls a soft credit, applies your rate matrix, and routes the result back to the Employee.

Syntic Code integration

Connect a Forge-built AI Code Engineer to your repository. Review PRs, write tests, generate documentation, and surface security vulnerabilities — all wired into your existing CI/CD pipeline through the Forge canvas.

Built in Forge

Every one of these started as a job description. None required a developer.

An overnight ops manager

Watches your team chat, pulls your dashboards at 6 AM, and files a one-page brief on what broke, what changed, and what needs your call this morning.

A market analyst

Dispatches scraping agents across a competitor list, builds a pricing matrix, and updates the deck you keep open in the leadership channel.

A renewal owner

Watches contract expiry dates, pulls usage data, drafts the renewal proposal, books the call, and dispatches the e-signature workflow.

An NDA triage clerk

Reads inbound NDAs, redlines against your house playbook, flags non-standard terms for counsel, and returns a marked-up draft.

A veterinary intake specialist

Answers after-hours calls, triages urgency, books appointments, and sends pre-visit forms in the right format for your practice management software.

Guardrails

Everything you build in Forge ships with the same controls as every Directory Employee.

You don't configure safety separately. Scoped credentials, Approval gates, versioning, audit logs, and content policy are built into the platform — not into the canvas design. They ship with every Employee, built or hired.

Scoped credentials per Employee

Every Employee you design gets a scoped credential set. They can't reach a tool you didn't grant. Default-deny on everything from filesystems to outbound HTTP.

Approval gates on the canvas

Drop an Approval node anywhere on a workflow. The Employee pauses, the right human gets pinged in Cowork, and the run resumes only on a yes. Use it for refunds, contracts, and anything irreversible.

Versioning, rollback, and audit

Every saved Employee is versioned. Roll back a personality change in one click. Every Agent Execution from every version is logged for audit. Compliance teams can review without leaving the dashboard.

Content policy and compliance frameworks

Set the boundaries: topics to avoid, language never used, and compliance frameworks honored, including HIPAA, FDCPA, GDPR, GLBA, and FERPA. Inherited at hire, enforced on every interaction.

How Forge works with the rest of Syntic

Forge is where you design. Cowork is where the Employee works.

The full Syntic platform sits behind every Employee you build. The AI Call Center provisions phone numbers and handles voice infrastructure for Forge-built Employees exactly as it does for Directory ones. Skills extend capability across both. Cowork is the operational dashboard where your entire workforce — built and hired — runs alongside each other in one org chart.

Most teams build one to three custom Employees in Forge for the roles that need to be exactly theirs, hire the rest from the Directory, and run everything in Cowork on a single subscription.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

The questions teams ask before they build their first custom Employee in Forge.

What's the difference between Forge and the Directory?

The Directory has 1,000+ pre-built AI Employees that are ready to hire in under a minute — pre-configured for the role, the channels, the compliance posture. Forge is for when you need something the Directory doesn't have, or when you want complete control over the dispatch logic, the authority thresholds, the personality, and the workflow. Most teams use both: hire from the Directory for standard roles, build in Forge for roles specific to their business.

Do I need to know how to code?

No. Forge is a visual builder: drag, connect, configure, ship. For developers who want full control, Skills can be authored in Markdown and Employees configured via API.

How long does it take to build an Employee?

A simple Employee takes an afternoon. A complex multi-channel Employee with custom Skills and integrations takes a couple of days. A productized Vertical Employee designed by our team takes 2 to 4 weeks.

Can I fork an existing Employee?

Yes. Any Employee in the Directory can be forked into Forge as a starting point. You get the full pre-built configuration — personality, channels, knowledge structure, dispatch logic — and can customise from there. Forking is usually faster than starting from blank if your role is close to something in the Directory.

What happens when I promote an Employee?

The design moves from Forge into Cowork. The Employee shows up in your org chart with a name and a reporting line and starts working immediately on the channels you configured. Every action is logged as an Agent Execution.

Can I roll back a change?

Yes. Every saved Employee is versioned, with one-click rollback to any previous version. The current version stays live until you promote the rollback.

Can my team collaborate on a design?

Yes on Team plans and above: shared canvases, review and approve workflows, and role-based publish rights. Pro is single-designer.

Can I design on mobile?

Pro and above can preview and edit Forge designs from the iOS and Android apps. Production publishing happens from desktop or web. Sessions sync across devices.

What knowledge formats does Forge handle?

Documents (Word, PDF, text, Markdown, HTML), spreadsheets (Excel, CSV, TSV), presentations (PowerPoint), images (PNG, JPG, SVG, WebP), data (JSON, YAML, XML, TOML), notebooks, and live URLs with scheduled re-crawl.

Can admins lock Forge down?

Yes. Admins can restrict who can publish, require review before promotion, and lock Forge to specific seats. Configure in Admin Settings on Team and above.

Is Forge certified for regulated workloads?

Forge-built Employees inherit the platform's compliance posture. HIPAA, FDCPA, GDPR, GLBA, and FERPA support available on Business and Enterprise. Talk to enterprise about regulated pilots.
